In his book, "Born in Yosemite," Peter T. Hoss takes the reader on a 75-year journey through the historical events and personal adventures that have shaped his Yosemite experience. His various relationships with Yosemite, including child resident, employee, legal counsel, hiker and skier, and privileged visitor, provide him with the perspective that validates his belief in the conservation of the Yosemite experience for future generations.

Peter T. Hoss was born in Yosemite Valley in 1934. He graduated from Stanford Law School in 1958 and practiced law in Monterey County, California, from 1962-1999. Currently he is a board member of the Ansel Adams Gallery, a member of the John Muir Heritage Society of the Yosemite Conservancy, and a trustee of A Christian Ministry in the National Parks. Peter and his family visit the park several times a year, enjoying relationships with people he has met in Yosemite. He has visited all 50 United States and over 70 foreign countries. And he has never, ever, found anything comparable to Yosemite.
